Pillows Maurits at the Park: A sophisticated new retreat in the heart of Amsterdam

Located in the evergreen Oosterpark and housed in a historic building dating from 1908, the newest project from Pillows Hotels mixes timeless elegance and contemporary aesthetics, with gastronomy and events at the forefront.

In the heart of Amsterdam, a 20th-century monumental building has been given new life as a luxury five-star hotel, following a delicate and meticulous transformation process.

With 88 luxury rooms and suites, a fine dining restaurant, a brasserie, two bars, a private lounge area, and several meeting spaces, the hotel is Amsterdam’s newest hot spot. A hub for gastronomy and curated experiences inspired from its beautiful surroundings, Maurits at the Park is next to Tropenmuseum and a short walk from Artis Amsterdam Zoo.

A new culinary destination

With two imposing restaurants, great attention has been given to the hotel’s culinary offerings. The goal is to celebrate gastronomy in every way, giving locals and visitors alike new, imaginative dining options. VanOost, helmed by rising star chef Floris van Straalen, is a fine dining restaurant serving ‘wordly cuisine’: heavenly dishes inspired from all over the world are prepared in an open kitchen. This truly magnificent space with fifteen-meter-high ceilings and design elements from a bygone era pays homage to the illustrious Tropenmuseum next door.

Spring Cafe Brasserie adds a playful touch to the mix with mouth-watering dishes by chef Luigi di Benedetto, who combines artfully the best of Italian and French cuisine. The light and airy indoor space connects with the atmospheric Oosterpark through a generous outdoor seating area.

Guests can experience signature cocktails at Fitz’s Bar, an intimate space with leather, wood, felt and velour design details. This 1920’s inspired bar is led by manager Nick Vrielink, who recently qualified as Dutch champion for the IBA World Cocktail Championship in Rome. Last but not least, a rooftop bar with stunning views of the park and the city offers the ultimate setting for summer drinks.

The three sumptuously decorated salons, another integral part of the hotel, are ideal for private meetings and events. The Living, a private lounge accessible only to staying guests, offers an impressive library and luscious design. A thoughtful entertainment plan includes various events and activities curated by local and international creatives.
