Homebodii’s founder Ingrid Bonnor on bringing fashion and art together

In what’s set to be one of the chicest collaborations of summer, leading Australian loungewear label, Homebodii, has launched the first of its collaboration capsules with renowned Byron Bay mixed media artist, Jai Vasicek, bringing to life his iconic ‘Blanc et Bleue’ prints in luxury flowing fabrics. We caught up with founder Ingrid Bonnor who shared her brand story with Lux Nomade and her passion for Australian artists…

Homebodii is our celebration of what inspires us, our values, and what we love. Our intention is to create a living story through our designs that are the perfect blend of paying homage to classic sleepwear elegance and modern daywear innovation.

I founded Homebodii in 2012, and I am proud and grateful that it has evolved to become recognised for our attention to the small touches and personalisation. We make quality sleep and loungewear garments using a combination of creative intuition and a commitment to our core design values.

Our offerings are meticulous in detail, from design inception to the customer experience at every touchpoint. We love nothing more than the opportunity to provide a peaceful escape in our customer’s lives. Our purpose is to serve our community with products that transcend ‘just throwing anything on’ and becomes a tradition that they look forward to.

Homebodii Launches New Collection With Renowned Artist Jai Vasicek

The Jai Vasicek Collection

Artists and creatives are some of the most passionate people you can ever meet.  Their work is deeply personal to them and as a brand, we wish to support those that bring colour and beauty into the world. Supporting local is important to us, we love nothing more than giving the artist a fashion-based platform to showcase their art.

“I’ve always admired doing collaborations with people that challenge conventional design, people who bring fashion and art together as a relationship, embracing and trusting one’s life journey and inspiration into their own.

Based out of Byron Bay, Jai Vasicek is one of Australia’s most sought-after mixed-media artists, producing stunning paintings, prints, embellished crosses and decorative tiles. Most of his works are abstracted or embellished portraits, using bright colours and layering techniques to create real statement pieces. Jai captures the true essence of feminine whimsicality in his abstract and naive tribal woman. His use of colour and patterns encapsulates the feminine form in all its beauty, provoking the inner goddess within us all.

“I’ve always admired doing collaborations with people that challenge conventional design, people who bring fashion and art together as a relationship, embracing and trusting one’s life journey and inspiration into their own.

Collaborating with such a beautiful brand like Homebodii has been so natural – they’ve believed in my work and the ethereal connection beyond it and translated it through their design medium.”

“This particular piece of artwork was created while on my travels in Marrakesh and is part of my ‘La Boheme’ original artwork series. I’m so excited to see the vibration of my ‘muse’ expand into this collection.”

Ethics and values around sustainability

Within Homebodii, sustainable fabrications combined with soft textures are a must for any of our sleepwear styles. We combine this with one-off hand-drawn beautiful prints that are exclusive to Homebodii.

Within the Australiana collection, we commission renowned Australian illustrator Alexandria Nea to paint a collection of iconic Australian flowers and Animals paying homage to our heritage and land. The fabric is buttery soft and breathable, designed for our Australian climate and to be worn beyond the bedroom.

As for charities we are proud to have been partnering with a local women’s refuge and the Pajama Foundation for some time now. Two local charities where we can see the immediate impact our support has given. I think it’s important to re-invest in your local communities and have a more hands-on approach.

ABOUT AUTHOR
Ingrid Bonnor
Gold Coast girl, Ingrid Bonnor, founded Homebodii in 2012 when she introduced the original collection of bridal robes to the market. In 2011, Ingrid noticed a gap in the market when she was searching to find beautiful and feminine pyjamas and robes to wear in hospital for the arrival of her daughter. Struggling to find the sleepwear she had invisioned wearing in hospital, Ingrid began to make robes for herself and after showing a few of her handmade robes to friends, she was encouraged to take her designs to the local markets in 2012 which was a sell-out. In just a few years Homebodii was featured on the runway of New York Fashion Week and the rest was history.
