Lux List Beauty: My Favourite Curly Hair Products

For this week’s of the Lux List Beauty, we are talking about one of my favourite topics, Curly Hair Products, and on that note, just a heads up to say that I’m still on a journey to be more consistent with my haircare routine as much as I care about my skincare habits.

At the same time, I try to manage my lioness mane. Being in your mid-late twenties doesn’t only mean upgrading your serum game and use retinol every other night, but it has also taught me to be more diligent with my curls. There was a time when I honestly didn’t know how to handle my locks, and to be honest, I didn’t care much; if you have or had this type of hair, you probably know what I’m referring to.

As I’m speaking today, things have changed, and thanks god, I’m aware my curly hair needs as much attention and care as I can give them, so if you’re on the curly hair team or just want to understand curly hair a bit more keep scrolling to see what are the products I’m raving for these days.

Expert Tips

Celebrity Hairstylist Chris Appleton and Global Creative Director for Colour Wow Hair has shared with us some of his tips to take the best care of your curls below:

One of the most important parts of caring for curly hair is the washing process. I always recommend using Color Wow Color Security Shampoo. I like to call it 100% clean because that’s precisely what it does. Suddenly, for the first time in a long time, people are listening to the importance of using products that don’t leave any ingredients behind. Because there are products on the market that build up and weigh the curls down, which actually impacts the curl pattern, they’re losing their curl pattern and bounce, which is one of the most beautiful things about curly hair.

To fight against frizziness, I like to use Color Wow Dream Coat Curly for curly hair. It’s the ONLY product I’ve found that doesn’t make the hair crispy but gives excellent control. So it’s a combination of hold, but also softness and definition.

Products Belen Loves for Her Curly Hair

These are my seven favourite curly hair products at the moment because, in case you didn’t know, there’s not just one best product that can target every kind of curls.

Curly hair products Moroccanoil

A standalone on my mornings to smooth dry hair and help eliminate frizz. Put the desired Moroccanoil Treatment quantity in your fingertips and style as desired; you can also rub it in between palms and smooth it all over your hair.

The Moroccanoil treatment is a conditioning, styling and finishing tool that will instantly help create luminous shine and luxurious, silky perfection, transforming hair with the most beautiful results. With a unique blend of powerful ingredients, Moroccanoil’s argan oil included, this advanced treatment fortifies hair, improves elasticity and shields against harmful environmental stressors.

Curly Hair Products Coco & Eve

Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Hair Masque

RRP $57.90

Lux Nomade

Why do I like this?

I have to say that the smell is literally like if you are on a tropical holiday to Bali (I wish!), and every time I use it, my hair feels super nourished. With beautiful ingredients like Virgin Coconut Oil, Gif Extract, Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Linseed, this mask will restore dry, damaged hair, improve texture, increase shine, tame frizz and treat split ends.

This 5-in-1 mask revives dry hair, restores hair to its pure state, repairs from the inside out, conditions from root to tips, and tames frizz to help you achieve your hair goals quickly. For even better results, try keeping the masque in overnight using our microfibre towel wrap and wash out in the morning for super damaged hair.

Curly Hair Products Sachajuan

Lux Nomade

Why do I like this?

Not only the bottle will look super cool on your haircare wardrobe, aka your bathroom, but this goodie will do the hard work while you sleep, giving your hair a hydration boost that all curly locks need once in a while; I’m using it once/twice a week and the day after results are SO smooth.

The Sachajuan Over Night Hair Repair is a gel product based on pure water. It is designed to build elasticity and strengthen your hair, as well as give it a fabulous shine. It has the highest concentration of Ocean Silk Technology of all Sachajuan products and contains a powerful blend of algae’s of Rhodophycea and Chondrus Crispus.

Oribe Moisture and Control Shampoo + Intense Conditioner

Lux Nomade

Why do I like these?

When you nurture your hair with an Oribe product, it definitely feels like a delicate and luxe treat to indulge your tresses, your hair will instantly fall in love, and I can’t blame not to mention how instagrammable one and each of their products are.

This power couple is perfect for restoring and enhancing curly, frizzy and impossibly thick hair. The Oribe Moisture and Control formula is enriched with a blend of strengthening and repairing amino acids to smooth hair leaving it sleek and completely under control.

Curly hair products evo

Evo Baby Got Bounce Curl Treatment

RRP $45.00

Lux Nomade

Why do I like this?

When Evo first launched its curl collection, I became OBSESSED with the whole range but in particular with this bad boy as it’s the perfect ally to give your hair some extra TLC at any time. Great to detangle your hair after washing, for a touch-up between meetings, after a day on the beach; the options are endless…

The Got Bounce Curl Treatments is an intense rinse-out product that moisturises and repairs to improve manageability, support curl pattern and prepare curls for easier styling; for best results, use after a deep cleaning or when extra hydration is required.

Curly Hair Products Revlon

Revlon Professionals Style Masters Curly Orbital

RRP $20.48

Lux Nomade

Why do I like this?

Another great option if your hair needs a boost of hydration during the day also works wonders as a styling buddy. It’s super lightweight and will keep your hair under control, let alone how manageable it will stay for longer.

The Style Masters Curly Orbital has a gel texture that creates defined, flexible curls and moisturises dry/frizzy hair, leaving it free-moving with a natural volume and shine. Reduces split ends, repels humidity, and reduces frizz.

curly hair products function of beauty

Function of Beauty The Custom Co-Wash

RRP $29.00

Lux Nomade

Why do I like this?

This fabulous brand takes all the guesswork out of the complicated process of choosing among thousands of products for your curly hair. With a simple and easy quiz, they will create a customised product just based on your particular needs. And, this is what I got: A curly medium normal profile with anti-frizz, curl definition, deep condition, hydrate and replenish hair as goals and a true l(o)vender scent. The Custom Co-Wash gently cleanses and moisturises hair while protecting your hair’s natural oils.

All this means is that they break down each of my goals and put the perfect ingredients onto a unique mix suited to my curls. For anti-frizz goals, we have Tamarind Extract and the well-known Argan Oil to hydrate and soften hair texture while protecting my strands from any breakage. And if we look into the Curl definition, we got Chia Seed Extract and Linseed Extract to enhance and define natural curls for overall manageability.
