A fairy tale dinner at La Fortaleza, Cap Rocat, Mallorca

Cap Rocat – a fairy tale-like sandstone castle, located only a 15 minutes’ drive from Palma International Airport, offers a secluded sanctuary. The former military fortress now a 5-star hotel boasts a breathtaking restaurant, La Fortaleza located above the Fortress Hall. This is where Chef, Victor Garcia serves up gastronomic magic in true Balearic Island spirit.

Located in the Bay of Palma de Mallorca the fortress was built at the end of the 19th century from local marés sandstone and opened its gates in 2010 after being totally refurbished by Antonio Obradorto.

The magnificent property is completely invisible from both land and sea offering a secluded sanctuary. Attracting discerning hotel guests looking for barefoot luxury and a gastronomic extravaganza this is a popular destination all year around.

Walking through the impressive passage towards La Fortaleza, the restaurant located above the Fortress Hall, gives you a feeling of being transported in time with the sand-coloured walls blending history with fantasy.

Entering the restaurant the dramatic panoramic view from the large terrace is visible through the tall glass windows. This is a truly dazzling spot to enjoy a cocktail before dinner whilst taking in the magnificent sunset.

The restaurant which is located inside a beautiful building with high ceiling is where a five or seven-course dinner is served which aims to take guests on a culinary journey through the Balearic Islands.

The impressive menu created by Chef Victor Garcia brings out rich flavours by adding a modern twist to traditional Mallorcan recipes.

The menu starts off with ‘Trampo’ and mussels from Mabon which are rock mussels served with a cold consome of its juice followed by squid with ‘Sobrasad’ and Onion.

As main courses guests will get a taste of both cod and lamb Mallorcan style.

The cod is cooked in the oven and served with a layer of seasonal vegetables whilst the Mallorcan lamb is incredibly flavoursome and cooked to perfection.

For pudding, Mallorcan herbs with cottage cheese is served which is surprisingly sweet and adds incredible freshness and serves as the perfect grande finale of the meal.

The menu is served together with a Quíbia 2016, a young white wine produced by Bodegas AN Negra in  Mallorca.

La Fortaleza is the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner or for family celebrations. Ensure you book in advance to get a taste of the Mallorcan culinary delights as well as the breathtaking view.

From May 28th to September 29th, open from Tuesday to Saturday. 20:00 – 23:00.
From September 30th tp October 31st, open from Tuesday to Saturday. 19:30 – 22:30.
