The Day Spa by Chuan managed by The Langham Sydney serves as a popular escape for hotel guests, as well as locals who has cleverly sniffed out this hidden gem located in a lavish underground sanctuary.

Open between 6am – 9pm, The Day Spa by Chuan is located in the sub-basement next to the hotel’s gym and wellness centre.

With its impressive swimming pool featuring a star-studded ceiling (!) as well as a great steaming-room, the spa offers a range of luxurious spa treatments.

By adopting holistic healing therapies, the highly qualified therapists use aromatherapy products as well as the signature German brand – Babor, to treat both body and mind.

The Signature treatment (90min)

Entering the spa I am greeted by lovely staff at the reception and therapist Monica takes me to one of the treatment rooms for the ‘The Signature Treatment’ – a body scrub, a neck and back massage followed by an express facial.

The treatment room is dark and comforting and Monica starts with a body exfoliator which is infused with herbs and smells absolutely divine. After thoroughly scrubbing away dead skin all over my body I am asked to visit one of the showers to rinse the sugar-based scrub off.

Back at the massage table, I am receiving a relaxing back and neck massage and Monica points out that my neck is incredibly tight, especially on the right-hand side (a common problem for computer/mouse users). She uses a de-stress muscle gel which is providing instant relaxation.

She finishes the treatment with an express facial, my favourite part of the treatment.

The products used for the face is all from Babor and Monica starts off with a mild peeling followed by a reactivating mask and a sensational eye cream. Before I leave the massage table Monica also adds a calming cream all over my face.

She points out that my skin is slightly dehydrated and I feel like the treatment has left my face feeling more smooth and soft than ever before.

After the treatment, I am recommended to leave all oils on my skin on for at least two to three hours to maximise the result.

Other treatments include; cosmeceutical facials, stone therapy, pregnancy pampering, manicure and pedicure.

Perhaps not too surprisingly, the spa is frequently visited by busy corporates running in and out from spa rooms looking for a couple of hours escape between business meetings.

Naturally, a perfect day spa for ladies of leisure Chuan is also popular among couples and even brides-to-be.

The spa is usually busy and bookings are essential for hotel guests as well as walk-ins.
