Wiltshire is known for not only its history and beautiful countryside but also the amazing country pubs throughout it. Here are some of the absolute best!

The Beckford Arms

This gorgeous pub, settled only 20 minutes away from Salisbury and Stonehenge, is not only surrounded by history but also has a lot of its own! They have a classic pub, serving local ales, local wines and even their own cocktails. Their menu also consists of local produce and even some of their own grown produce. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, they have eight rooms to choose from and even two lodges. With plenty to do, from fishing, shooting, sightseeing or even an in-room massage, The Beckford Arms is a winner.

The Royal Oak Inn 

This sweet 18th-century pub, that has been recently restored, has a lot to offer. From the award-winning wines on their menu to the gorgeous food and not to mention, the rooms also go that extra mile! With package choices from champagne breakfast, a fishing day or even a luxury picnic that they will prepare for you for your day out. Also, being situated near popular attractions, such as Stourhead and Wordour Castle, there are plenty of reasons to visit this little pub.

The Bell

This unique pub is apart of the Ramsbury estate, meaning that this 300-year-old former coaching Inn, serves their own ales and spirits! The Ramsbury estate also has their own brewery, distillery and smokehouse. The pub menu consists of European cuisine and everyone’s favourite pub classics. As part of the pub, they have their own cafe which is perfect for light lunch or a slice of cake and a coffee. After, you can even spend the night here as they have 9 rooms, one of which is dog-friendly. It’s no wonder why this pub is hospitality award winner of Pub of the Year England 2017-2018.

The Swan 

This little village pub has won several awards including, the Countryside Alliance British Pub Champion 2017 and Wiltshire Life Best pub of the year 2017. It has sat on the river Avon for 350 years now, playing a central role in the village of Enford, seven miles north of Stonehenge. The menu consisting pub classics change regularly, in which customers order at the bar. They also stock local ales and regularly host events, so to feel a bit of village spirit, this is the pub to be at.

Three Tuns 

The Three Tuns sits on the Wiltshire/ Berkshire border and has a lot to offer, being the winner of The Good Food Guide 2019 (Waitrose and Partners). They serve Italian inspired cuisine, in which the menu changes daily, featuring local, in-season produce and offer a takeaway service. The bar serves local (southwest) ales and at weekends have jugs of bloody Mary and either mulled wine or Muddled fruits on the bar as well as have a dog-friendly beer garden for those warmer evenings!

The Angel Lacock

Sign of the Angel 

This 2 AA Rosette, 15th century Inn, is sure to take your breath away. Stay in one of their five rooms, all of which are dog-friendly and with only being a short distance from Bath, there is plenty nearby to do! On top of their regular menu, They host monthly tastings, which each have three main flavours, the rest is a surprise! Or, if you enjoy a spot of tea, enjoy a delightful afternoon tea, by the river.

Timbrells Yard

Located seven miles from Bath, this pub claims to not only be a pub but also a bar! They sell local regional craft beers, as well as coffee, juices, pastries and cake! Sitting on the River Avon, their stunning take on pub classics to match. Even your pooch can get some love, with all their rooms being dog-friendly and even the surprise doggy packs to match!

Whitehorse Inn 

This highly awarded 18th-century pub has a stunning menu, where all the food is sourced locally, making it a 2 AA Rosette pub and mentioned in the Michelin guide. The menu, that changes daily, offers pub classics as well as chef specials. Everything is made on site, even the ketchup and dog treats! If you book a special event, they will even tailor the menu to your likings, always going that extra mile! There is also a separate bar which serves Wiltshire brewed ales, craft ciders, spirits and even the same food menu. At the end of the day, rest your head in one of their eight 4 AA star rated rooms!
