Château De Montcaud in the South of France Offers an Authentic French Hideaway.

Nestled in the heart of a magnificent five-hectare park lies Château De Montcaud, a property which spans over 170 years. In 1992, the château first opened to guests as a hotel and more recently reopened in July 2018 following an extensive refurbishment under the current owner. The unquestionably beautiful property in France’s rural Cèze Valley boasts a wealth of history and culture and offers an authentic French hideaway. Guests will find solace in Château De Montcaud’s natural surroundings, before enjoying the hotel’s elegance, exquisite gastronomy and flawless service. The hotel’s essence, luxury of simplicity, is captured in bedroom interiors through classic and refined features, complete with a decorative silk panel which is set above each bed, paying tribute to Alexandre Eugène Collain, the silk trader who built Château de Montcaud.

Guests can enjoy lazy meanders around the park, admiring the flora and fauna, explore the region’s untrodden paths by bicycle, take a dip in the pool or play a few games of tennis. Refuel at the hotel’s brand new fine dining restaurant by ambitious young Head Chef, Matthieu Hervé, which opened on the 16th November 2018. Housed in the old stables, the restaurant’s large windows boast spectacular views of the park, while the charming courtyard is perfect to enjoy a sumptuous al fresco meal under the sun or the stars.

Unusual for the region, the restaurant serves cuisine terre et mer, where top-quality meat from local butchers and fresh seafood makeup Matthieu Hervé’s extraordinary à-la-carte and tasting menus. Matthieu served under some of the greatest chefs in the world where he acquired his incredible passion and skill for gastronomy, before becoming head chef at Château de Montcaud. His culinary style brings together the traditional with a taste of the unexpected, which combined, creates the most luxuriously intensified flavours, sure to delight any gourmet aficionado.
