El Llorenç Parc de la Mar: a stylish Mallorca boutique hotel.

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar captures the vibrant diversity of the city through mindful design that seamlessly marries past and present. Beyond its aesthetics, the hotel embraces Mallorca’s gastronomic roots, while the luxurious spa espouses the sublimely slow-paced Balearic living.

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar Location

Located in the heart of Palma’s Old Town, the charming, cobble-stoned quarter of La Calatrava is set around the imposing Cathedral La Seu. Home to some of the city’s most striking medieval architecture, the neighbourhood also plays host to the remnants of ancient Arab baths and the royal palace La Almudaina, while landmarks such as Plaça de Cort and the S’Hort del Rei Gardens are just a short stroll away. Palma de Mallorca Airport is located 9.5 km from the hotel; approximately 15 minutes by car.

Design and Style

Occupying a prominent position in the heart of La Calatrava, it was vital that the architecture of El Llorenç acknowledged the heritage and structural integrity of its neighbourhood while also carving its own distinct visual identity. Architect Pedro Rabassa has pulled off a masterful feat of balance and artistry, creating a façade defined by classical lines and Juliet balconies that frames a structure informed by light-filled, wide-open spaces, which accentuate the hotel’s expansive views. Visionary Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland was responsible for creating the interior design concept for El Llorenç, and pays homage to the stylistic traditions of Old World Spanish, Moorish, and Arabic aesthetics while representing the forward-looking, creative zeitgeist of modern-day Palma. The result is an inspired panoply of old and new; starting right from the lobby where columns of Santanyi stone, intarsia parquet flooring, and Venetian plaster walls sit alongside custom walnut mouldings. Patterned floors that emulate traditional Arabic star motifs run throughout the guestrooms and public spaces, providing a charming juxtaposition with the hotel’s vast trove of contemporary artwork and vintage black-and-white photography.

The Guest Rooms at El Llorenç Parc de la Mar

The 33 guestrooms range from the 19-square-meter Double Standard Patio Room to the 40-square-meter Suite with sea views, and all feature a king-size bed, custom furniture and pieces from the likes of Andreu World, Emu, Flexform, Kartell, Roche Bobois and Flos. While the Double Standard Bastió rooms and the Junior Suites overlook Carrer Bastió d’en Berard below, the Signature Rooms and the Suites offer views of the park and the Dalt Murada city walls. The latter also boasts two balconies, a sitting room, and an inviting bathtub. Stylish bathrooms are outfitted with Senso wash toilets and Radiance chromotherapy showers, as well as heated flooring.

DINS Santi Taura

Spearheaded by renowned Mallorcan chef Santi Taura, the gastronomic concept at El Llorenç represents a tangible celebration of traditional island cuisine and locally-sourced produce. Embodying a truly unique dining experience, Taura has relocated his acclaimed restaurant DINS to Palma, serving an innovative Balearic tasting menu, as well as an à la carte option, in an achingly chic setting. Dominated by the open kitchen, DINS Santi Taura features a semi-circular dining bar for 12 guests, and tables to accommodate a further 28. Dishes are designed to showcase the finest, seasonal produce from Mallorca’s natural larder—from day-fresh seafood caught in Palma Bay to prized black pork sourced from a local farm.

El Llorenç’s crowning glory is its three-tiered rooftop terrace, home to a cocktail bar and a dining area overseen by Chef Taura, as well as Palma’s longest infinity pool. Offering 360-degree views over the Old Town and the marina beyond, the terrace is dotted with luxurious Balinese beds that provide the ideal perch from which to take in the spectacular sunsets. The sense of serene elegance and unhurried luxury that permeates the hotel finds it pinnacle in the Ç Wellness Studio, a sublime retreat of Arab baths, a 14-meter thermal pool and restorative treatments from Barcelona-based skincare brand Natura Bissé. An extensive fitness area with state-of-the-art equipment is also available to guests 24 hours a day.
