Comporta, the Portuguese jet set destination, is the new hot digital nomad spot

If you haven’t already heard about Comporta, the (so far fairly) hidden gem located south of Lisbon along the Atlantic coast, you should add it to your travel list, pronto!

The still fairly unknown destination has been described as ‘St Tropez 50 years ago’ which is thanks to the untouched surrounding nature, unexploited beaches and friendly locals. Known via word-of-mouth among the A-listers and jet-set crowd, Comporta is a place where billionaires can spend peaceful holidays offering tranquillity and privacy. Celebrities have been quick to cotton on and Madonna, Cristiano Ronaldo and Richard Branson have all been spotted in the sleepy and charming village.

But it’s not just the celebs who’ve been spending time in the now increasingly popular destination. The beautiful region of 12,500 hectares of rice fields, vineyards, and sandy beaches surrounded by pine forests has also been discovered by digital nomads.

When taking a break from their laptops, digital nomads can hang out at Sublime Comporta Beach Club enjoy horse riding along the beach, do yoga, go dolphin watching, trek in the Serra of Grândola, or explore the area’s natural beauty.

Where to stay?

With only a small collection of luxury hotels, Comporta is an exclusive destination that remains largely undiscovered by tourists. The only hotel in Comporta village is AlmaLusa Comporta, a stylish wellness-focused boutique hotel, located within a short walk, or even quicker bike ride, to the amazing Comporta beach.

The hotel’s 53 individually designed rooms include 31 spacious suites perfect for longer stays. The pet-friendly Garden Suites in particular offer great privacy with a private garden, a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious living area.

There is a Rooftop Bar opened during the summer months, a large swimming pool, a breakfast bar and a cosy library bar as well as the AlmaLusa Cafe offering ‘grab and go’ salads and sandwiches for those keen to head straight to the beach.

The hotel offers several Wellness Programmes throughout the year for the body mind, and soul. The programs include a curated blend of therapeutic techniques, Spa treatments, yoga sessions, mindfulness meditation, immersive workshops, and personalised counselling sessions.
