London’s best Vegetarian Restaurants to savour tasty plant-powered dishes…

London is a big city with big opportunities and dreams – however, part of this big lifestyle includes, or rather requires, good food and a range of cuisines from all around the world, with it being such a multicultural city. Amongst the many different cuisines you can try, London offers a plethora of vegetarian and vegan places for those who are vegetarian/vegan, or simply those who want a bit of a change in their diet. Ready to explore the plant-powered options of London’s wonderful restaurants or places to visit (although a few of them do offer meat options too), where you can start or take a break during your day, ready and recharged? Detox completely from the hectic lifestyle with these tasty and healthy vegetarian meals from London’s best vegetarian restaurants.

Ethos London's best vegetarian restaurants

Ethos is one of the best places for London’s vegetarian restaurants. A self-serving restaurant, you can pick up whatever delicious dish you like, ranging from the nasudengaku (Miso-marinated aubergine) to vegetarian korma curry, whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can also be even more ethical in that the system here helps you, in a sense, to watch how much you eat, as you can pay for your meal by weighing your dish on a scale. If you don’t want to go for a full-on meal, you could always pop in for a lovely afternoon tea – a mixture of sweet and savoury menus are offered – or enjoy a drink in the quiet, beautifully decorated restaurant. There are also activities which this restaurant offers, activities which have been inspired by veganism, such as ‘Ethos Yoga Breakfast – with Fat Buddha Yoga’ – although it is best to book a space beforehand.

London Vegetarian Restaurant

By Chloe

Cute and hip, By Chloe is the franchise, which started in New York but has now arrived in London, which every Londoner or visitor must try out. The funky interior is not the only cute aspect about this place, as the food is also extremely catered towards the new trends and young vibes of vibrant New York and London. You can find the usuals here – of both meat and vegetarian options – but there are also exotic menus which definitely do catch your eye, such as the gluten-free ‘Detox Kale’ salad or ‘The Geek’ salad, which both include a variety of vegetarian-friendly ingredients that will not only tingle your taste buds, but also provide you with energy for the rest of the day. You probably will never have felt so full with just one salad bowl, but there are other menus to be enjoyed with friends who have different preferences!

POD

Another one of London’s vegetarian-friendly, but also offering-meat-options, places is POD. Dotted around in London’s various cities, the almost café-like restaurant with a friendly atmosphere invites you in for a quick bite-to-eat on the way to work or during a short lunch break. Offering both hot and cold food, super smoothies and shakes, and other energy-boosting menus such as special yoghurt pots and energy bars, POD is one of the most convenient places to take out fresh and healthy options for your meal out. There is seating inside, but there might be a lot of people queueing or waiting inside and so it might be a little difficult to grab a seat when it’s rush hour. However, the food does not disappoint and the various menus will have you satisfied, whether you are a meat-eater, a vegetarian, or a vegan!

Mildreds London

Mildreds

Being one of the vegetarian-friendly restaurants in London that have been around more than any other (it’s been around for more than twenty-five years!), Mildreds is guaranteed to offer you delicious vegetarian menus which will satisfy you for the rest of the day. The warm and cosy atmosphere of the interior also really does help with the overall dining experience, not to mention the actual variety of menus, ranging from various cuisines even within the mains, to vegan-friendly options within the dessert menu. Just to add that extra detail – which makes perfection – there is also organic wine, coffee and tea, and milk. Everything is wonderful, which means that there is no reason for you to miss out on this wondering dining opportunity, so make sure that you get there within plenty of time, as there is a no-booking policy.

Farmstand

Located in different areas within Central London, Farmstand offers a wide menu – breakfast, lunch and dinner – whilst sourcing the best ingredients, all of which are plant-powered (as are the people there!) Not completely vegan-friendly, as the food is 80% vegetarian, but a lovely place to visit with a mixture of friends who have a mixture of preferences. You also have the pleasure of picking and choosing what actually goes into your meal, for instance, you can choose your base – from porridge to yoghurts – and then choose some toppings, in two simple steps. The same fun can be enjoyed for the lunch and evening menu but for the evening menu, there are much more options and a bigger sized dish, if you are feeling extra hungry. Do not miss out on the gluten-free desserts to complete your wonderful meal either and become ‘positively plant-powered’ (to quote their website), ready to continue the day ahead, feeling happy and healthy.
