This stylish yet cosy and warm poolside restaurant is the perfect spot for a winter’s day lunch.

After an extensive renovation process, Baltazár Bar & Grill, which is part of the new culinary concept of Kempinski Hotel Bahía Estepona, opened its doors in March this year to hotel guests as well as to the public.

The new interior design has a modern take on a traditional art-deco diner with stylish dark green tiles, comfortable leather chairs and thick quality rugs in warm and earthy colours. Located on the ground floor the restaurant offers a stunning view over the pool area and the hotel’s lush gardens.

The kitchen offers a delicious gastronomic experience where traditional Spanish dishes and cooking is blended with the use of a Tandoori oven and a Josper Grill. Baltazár caters for both business lunches (the food comes out quick) and longer family lunches. In the evenings, the stylish restaurant turns into a lively hotspot, especially on Friday evenings when dinner guests can enjoy live music adding to the buzzing atmosphere. Throughout the day the talented bartenders are busy mixup up innovative cocktails in the stylish bar area.

The menu, as the name ‘Bar & Grill’ suggests, is focused on different cuts of meat and fresh fish prepared on one of the four different grills used. The chefs at Baltazár Bar & Grill is only using fresh and natural locally sourced products which are being prepared on a Josper Grill and Tandoor oven to perfectly cook the meat and fish.

As any good steakhouse, there are plenty of sides and sauces to choose from including truffle fries, steamed vegetables as well as Café de Paris’ butter, Bernaise sauce and the house Chimuchurri for a spicy kick.

Other highlights on the menu include the classic steak tartar with capers, pickles & salt-cured egg yolk which is served with the seasoning on the side. The seared tuna with pickled mushrooms & sherry vinaigrette is a wonderful light and fresh starter.

Baltazár has its own smooth red wine, made from three grapes, which is locally sourced from Rhona and perfectly paired with the meat. For those who fancy something a bit different, the talented bartenders will mix up aperitifs and unique and fun cocktails.

It’s difficult to ignore the mouth-watering dessert menu. The warm chocolate pudding and the lemon and passion fruit cream are both a perfect way to end the meal.

The staff absolutely nails the service which is warm and professional yet relaxed and fun. This is the perfect restaurant for; date night, a group of friends or for the entire family.
