Dynamic Mauritian boutique hotel, SALT of Palmar, has announced the launch of SALT Retreats, a program of three soul-soothing wellness retreats taking place from September 2019. Hosted by world-renowned yogic gurus, nutritionists and experts in personal transformation, SALT Wellness Retreats will nourish minds and soothe spirits through restorative workshops, inspiring talks and immersive activities. SALT of Palmar’s commitment to sustainability is evident with the wellbeing of people and our planet is at the heart of the SALT experience, with each stay contributing towards protecting and empowering local communities, celebrating local culture and preserving the environment.

Wellness Discovery with Bianca Landman (11 – 18 September 201)

The retreats kick off with an eight-day Wellness Discovery with the lifestyle coach and founder of Bad Ass Yoga Bianca Landman, running from 11-18 September 2019. Emphasizing unity of body, mind and spirit, Bianca will lead guests through a curated collection of wellbeing experiences including Bad Ass Yoga classes and introductions to self-care, hormonal balance and intuitive eating. Throughout the program, guests will be encouraged to switch off and enjoy sunset float fit classes, full moon meditations and horse riding on the white sands of Palmar beach at sunrise.

Raw Rejuvenation with Grace Van Berkum (9 – 16 October 2019)

The second retreat in the series, the eight-day Raw Rejuvenation retreat will explore the healing power of fresh foods from the earth, grounding yoga and connection to nature. From 9-16 October 2019, holistic nutritionist, Hatha yoga teacher and founder of Gracious Living Lifestyle Grace Van Berkum will offer a deep-dive into the world of raw gastronomy, with daily raw food workshops, harnessing the abundance of fresh local produce in delicious dishes. Guests will also enjoy hikes through the verdant southern tip of the island, sunset Indian Ocean cruises, and vibrant plant-based meals throughout.

The Art of Body Mind Alignment with Samanta Duggal (29 November – 4 December 2019)

Offering total personal transformation through self-exploration, the third and final retreat in the series focuses on The Art of Body Mind Alignment, taking place from 29 November – 4 December 2019. Led by wellness guru Samanta Duggal who is a skilled yoga instructor, Ayurvedic nutritionist and expert in bodywork, neuro-linguistic programming and Bharatanatyam dance, the intensive workshop will help guests to develop a true understanding and appreciation of the human body. Samanta will lead guests through the six dimensions of the spine, including heart-opening backbends, traditional Thai bodywork, twists to open the lung meridians, therapeutic dance circles and deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra. Movement will be complemented by soul-soothing breathwork, Vedic chanting and meditation. Guests will also be treated to the healing energy of the Tibetan singing bowls or a curative walk in the spiritual park.

Sustainability

Guests at each retreat will enjoy delicious and sustainably sourced cuisine, cycling tours to local villages, and forest therapy – finding balance and calm within the lush, unspoilt Mauritian rainforests. All retreats also include locally inspired, salt-based treatments to energize, detoxify and rejuvenate at SALT Equilibrium – the hotel’s spa, complete with a purifying salt room. Those seeking a more active escape can partake in SALT’s Sunrise Run Club, wild swimming, hiking and more, whilst eco-friendly yoga mats and blocks are provided in every guestroom to allow guests to explore their own practice.
