Soothe your body and stimulate your senses at the new lunar-inspired spa at SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort only using natural products.

A heavenly haven of peace and tranquillity, SALA Spa Chaweng aims to elevate guests to a higher world of wellbeing. Highly trained therapists use only natural skin care products to create an extensive selection of treatments, including invigorating massages, revitalising wraps, freshening facials, sublime scrubs and more.

The Design

The new Garden Wing where the spa is located has been uniquely designed to reflect the changing phases of the moon, including the half moon and dark moon. This exquisite area has an intimate ambience, enhanced by trees and plants, creating a sense of deep natural tranquillity. The spa’s six treatment rooms are named after the planets and bodies of the solar system: Dao Angkan (Mars), Dao Pud (Mercury), Dao Suk (Venus), Dao Sao (Saturn), Pra Chan (Moon) and Pra Arthid (Sun). All come fully equipped with a private bathtub, shower and twin beds – perfect for guests seeking a personal pampering experience, or couples who want to share their spa journey. Separate steam rooms are also available.

The Treatments

Therapists use only natural products from three leading Thai skincare brands, I Plus Q, Divana and Dii, to leave guests feeling fully rejuvenated. I Plus Q uses pure plant extracts and essential oils in its award-winning aromatherapy products, while Divana harnesses ancient oriental wisdom and 21st Century innovation to create exceptional organic products. Dii blends advanced skincare techniques with natural ingredients, such as red algae, to help reverse the signs of ageing. “Just as the movement of the moon and the planets is said to affect a person’s mood, our lunar-themed SALA Spa will elevate guests’ senses to another world of wellness. Nestled in the heart of our new Garden Wing, this is an oasis of serenity where guests can unwind and feel a deep connection with the Earth, the moon and the stars. Just as the moon moves through cycles, SALA Spa will take guests on a complete orbital journey of rejuvenation, encompassing the body, mind and spirit,” said Erwin van der Veen, General Manager, SALA Samui Chaweng Beach Resort.

Sala Hospitality Group Sustainability Efforts

According to an end-of-year audit, the SALA Samui Choengmon Beach Resort removed 65,000 single-use plastic bottles, 53,000 plastic bags and 38,000 plastic straws from its rotation.

Further conservation and adopting new eco-friendly practices have been outlined by Thailand resort operator, Sala Hospitality Group, as a key area of focus for 2019 at all seven of its properties.

Initiatives already in place include replacing single-use plastic bags with eco-friendly alternatives. Plastic straws have been phased out in favour of biodegradable cornstarch equivalents. Guests also have access to water in glass bottles as opposed to plastic, butter served in glassware at tables and rattan basket bins in the lobby.

Initiatives for 2019 for Sala involved working with its suppliers to switch their operations to eco-friendly packaging. In addition, inverter air-conditioning and LED lighting have already been rolled out at Sala Phuket and Sala Ayutthaya. A leftover food recycling program is also now in effect at Sala Chiang Mai, where leftover food stocks are either donated to non-profit organisations to turn into meals for less fortunate, or used as compost in resort gardens.
