If you’re planning on treating yourself to an indulgent, luxury break in an adults only resort, the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar is my gift to you.

When you’re craving five-star treatment and want to treat yourself to a truly indulgent vacation, you can’t go wrong than head to the Dominican Republic for some R&R; Whether you want to fly and flop, or enjoy some daily adventures, this small, but the perfectly formed country has lots to offer.

Location

Bordering Haiti, the white sand and turquoise sea is the main attraction, but the surrounding countryside is filled with stunning nature. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, the Dominican Republic is the second-largest island in the Caribbean and one of its most geographically diverse countries, with mountains, deserted scrublands, colonial architecture and never-ending beaches; Away from the resorts, the landscape is distinctly rural. But most visitors come to enjoy the year-round tropical climate.

The region of Punta Cana is situated on the easternmost tip, with access to both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and is a prime location for a deluxe break- whether romance is on the agenda, or you want to relax and read on a lounger with friends; It is also the destination of the exclusive Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Hotel which prides itself on developing off-the-beaten-path locations. Granting direct access to the beach (also known as the Coconut Coast), which boasts 32 km of sand and crystal clear sea, is the icing on the cake for the indulgent all-inclusive resort.

Luxury Ambar Residence

The latest addition to the Bahia family of hotels, is the refurbished adults only, Luxury Ambar residence which prides itself in offering a truly magical experience for adults to escape, and is undoubtedly somewhere where you will make unforgettable memories.

With ground floor accommodation offering private terrace swim-up pools, you can do twenty lengths before breakfast! Or mingle with other guests in a spontaneous afternoon foam-pool party; Whether you love live music and cocktails, or are more of a foodie,  yoga bunny or need to brush up on your Spanish, the varied programme of events and choice of a la carte restaurants and buffets, take indulgence to another level.

The hotel is designed for sun-worshippers, with an abundance of loungers surrounding the ginormous pool (with swim up bar, natch) or head to the relaxation zone with chillout Bali beds; There is even an outdoor jacuzzi for those who like bubbles!

However, the true Caribbean with its white-sand beach and rows of palm trees are moments away; The beach is a hub of activities, and has countless sunbeds, coconut tree shades, waiting staff, volleyball courts and lunchtime barbeques. Your access to all areas wristband means you can enjoy treats here too.

Restaurants

After a hard day sunbathing, you have a choice of gourmet restaurants for dinner; And with access to five of the neighbouring hotels in the wider Grand Bahia Principe complex, you can make use of the à la carte restaurants as well as the extensive buffet.

Whether you are travelling as a couple or with friends, you can finish off your evening with a variety of night-time activities, which include a White Party, Pool Party or Silent Disco.

Don’t expect to walk too far as the hotel runs on golf cart buses which are plentiful and whisk you around the large manicured pathways- to and from the beach and other areas of the hotel. I recommend topping up your WiFi credit so you can keep in touch with your loved ones and make them green with envy whilst you are on the beach. Or if you want more of a detox, you get complimentary WiFi for two devices in your room and the lobby.

Activities

Along with on-site tennis, golf and bike hire, the hotel also offers a number of external activities. Join a group and head out on a Chocolate Adventure, where you meet the suppliers and try cocoa, cigars and the infamous spirit MamaJuana in the jungle, or take a safari jeep and go horse riding in the mountains. Whether you like snorkelling, buggy adventures or have always wanted to see a humpback whale, there is plenty of staff to help recommend and book your day out (but as these are external trips, have some dollars ready to tip!)

If the idea of eating and drinking unlimited cuisine makes your waistline cringe, don’t worry, there is a fully equipped gym, and several exercise classes to keep your calories under control! It’s also worth downloading the hotel’s App, where you can book treatments in the spa and restaurants as well as keep up to date with the animation programme and evening activities.

Services

Other highlights of the luxury complex include a nightly turndown, room service, and butler service to cater to any whim. With a pillow and room scent menu, there is no request that the staff are not happy to help with!  The signature MamaJuana massage in the Spa is highly recommended too!

So if you’re planning on treating yourself to an indulgent, luxury break in an adults only resort, the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar is my gift to you.
