Popular amongst the A-List crowd and ranked as one of the top 100 hotels in the world, I was incredibly excited when I recently stayed at this luxury 5-star property. Offering a prime location, refined elegance and top-class service (all in the accent colour of powdery pink) this is a dream hotel for any guest.
After a grand transformation, The Langham Sydney re-opened its doors in 2015 and is now ranked as one of the world’s most prestigious hotels.
With white marble floors, powder pink furniture and fresh deep purple orchids, the 5-star property offers guests a dramatic arrival experience reminding me of an upscale luxury Hollywood hotel.
Famous for its Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood, iconic pink guest bicycles plus a million dollar Sotheby’s art collection, and not to mention private butler tennis afternoons, The Langham attracts the discerning business and leisure travellers.
For the re-opening, GA Design out of London was the mastermind behind the sleek interior design.
Every detail was thought of, from the gold and white shellac finish on the reception to the expansive marble fireplaces to each chair, table, coffee table, bed head, chandelier, handmade rug and lampshade.
1-bedroom Suite City
Famous for having the biggest guestrooms in Sydney including signature terraces with water views and dog-friendly suites, it is not difficult to see why this hotel is popular among celebrities and VIP guests (Khloe Kardashian is one of many celebrities who has stayed at The Langham Sydney).
The 1-bedrorom Suite City is, as expected, incredibly spacious (78m2 / 840ft2) boasting high ceilings, free wi-fi, a separate sitting room, a large bedroom and a grand bathroom.
The sitting room features a 3-seat sofa, and armchair, a flat screen TV, a separate table, two chairs and a generous mini-bar making it perfect for entertaining.
Located in the corner of the building, on the first floor, the bedroom of the Suite features two large windows, creating a light and airy feel. The Suite is located on a side street, and being tucked away from the main road, it benefits from complete tranquillity as well as a stunning harbour view.
The bedroom has a king size bed, a 2-seat sofa, a flatscreen TV as well as a large double wardrobe.
The only downside is there is no USB plug next to the bed.
The bathroom reminds me of a roman spa with luxurious marble, a double basin, spacious shower and a large separate bath.
An extra bonus is the soft Langham bathrobes, the slippers and the leather box containing a selection of Chuan Spa toiletries – it has everything you need (including amazing shampoo and conditioner) and will leave your own toiletry back unpacked during your stay.
Fancy dinner in your room? The Langham offers a mouthwatering selection of dishes available 24/7.
The 24-hour in-room dining service turns your sitting room into a cosy ‘home restaurant’ as soon as the white linen draped trolley rolls in. A little bit like Pretty Woman.
The attention to detail is impeccable with polished silverware, fresh flowers and an array of condiments.
The breakfast is served in Bistro Remy between 6.30am – 11.00am and for $45 per person, guests can enjoy a buffet including continental breakfast as well as hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, bacon and grilled tomatoes all made from Australia’s local produce.
It is also possible to order baked beans and poached eggs for an additional charge.
Would I come back?
In a split second.
The Langham Sydney sets the bar when it comes to service and spacious rooms and is, in my opinion, one of the best (if not the best) hotels in Sydney.
This is where you bring your partner for a romantic weekend, your young family for a Sydney adventure, your friends for declious celebratory cocktails or your mother-in-law for Afternoon Tea.
Rooms start from $635 per night, 1-bedroom Suite City starts from $970.
