Located in Melbourne’s bustling go to foodie suburb Richmond, JAMU creates an essence of bringing everyone together with their Asian fusion menu designed for sharing.

Owned by Hawthorn AFL players, James Frawley & Isaac Smith and Evelyn Lau, A Thousand Blessings renowned business owner, JAMU has been inspired by a mixture of backgrounds creating something magical. “JAMU is about the culmination of cultures, founded on the fusion of Malaysian and Modern Australian cuisine. The cuisine is nothing short of amazing, leaving your taste buds wanting more. My favourites are the Tomahawk Steak, Kingfish Ceviche, Pork Hock and you can’t go past the Cheeseburger Spring Rolls,” says owner James Frawley. Executed to perfection by a team with years of culinary experience, Head Chef, Calvin Wong has worked closely with part-owner Evelyn Lau & his team of young, talented chefs, to create a unique menu of quality and delicious tasting food.

The menu includes a range of raw dishes, snacks, shared plates, large plates, sides & desserts. Or for $58pp try out the ‘Feed Me Menu’ with chef’s selection of JAMU favs.

Key dishes you will find at Jamu include;

● Bao (2pcs) Pork Belly, Sticky Sweet Soy & Peanuts.

● Cone Bay Barramundi steamed with ginger, fennel and soy

● Half Chook with honey, cumin & coriander seeds and a side of ginger & spring onion sauce

● Pork Hock with Tamarind Caramel Sauce

● 1.2kg Wagyu A5 Tomahawk Steak with a side of mouth-watering Asian bearnaise sauce.

JAMU boasts an impressive drinks menu with a huge selection of wine, beer and heavenly cocktails to choose from, thanks to their talented mixologist. Not to forget weekend Happy Hour Friday to Sunday 3pm – 5pm $5 Tap Beer and Aperol Spritz.

The interior is designed to match the concept of the menu, creating a fusion through the use of materials and forms. Throughout the 70 person capacity space with indoor & outdoor seating, you will see a combination of copper, mesh and custom designed solid timber tables aimed at bringing diners back to Australian roots through the use of local materials. “ The intent was to create a backdrop for the vibrant, colourful, and loud food that is served; hence the atmosphere is somewhat dark and moody… serving as a canvas for the real hero – the food”. JAMU is located in the heart of Richmond and is open Tuesday to Sunday for dinner with lunch sittings from Friday to Sunday, this new hotspot will fast become one of your new locals.
