Breidenbacher Hof, a true icon for Dusseldorf, made its stylish return last year.

Breathing European luxury and hospitality at its very best, this award-winning iconic, elegant and traditional  5-star hotel, part of the exclusive brand of Capella Hotels and Resorts, offers exclusive amenities, outstanding service and a rich tradition and heritage of the past.

With its rich history, Breidenbacher Hof was known as the ultimate luxury hotel and the destination of choice for the high society including royal guests such as Russian Czar Alexander II and Prince August of Prussia.  During the twentieth century, the hotel continued to be the paragon of elegance.

The iconic hotel was closed down for extensive reconstruction in 1999 and was eventually torn down and then completely rebuilt. In 2008 it celebrated its proud comeback as the Breidenbacher Hof, a Capella Hotel. The elements of art deco and the empire style is still very prominent throughout the hotel’s interior design and architecture, creating a feeling of timeless elegance.

Location

Located right in the historic heart of Dusseldorf on the city’s famous boulevard, the Koningsallee, the location is undoubtedly hard to beat. The timeless and majestic hotel is 2 minutes’ walk from Heinrich-Heine-Allee U-Bahn subway station, 2.5 km from the Rhine Tower and 6 km from Trade Fair Dusseldorf.

Capella Living Room

Service

The Breidenbacher Hof offers impeccable service which begins when the main entrance doors are being opened by valet greeting you by your name. The check-in process is incredibly smooth and rather than having to wait in the main lobby guests are swiftly escorted to a separate private area, the Capella Living Room which offers comfortable sofas, armchairs and a beautiful fireplace. The complimentary drinks, coffee and tea is a great bonus. The concierge is always on hand to assist throughout the stay assisting with booking taxis, offering restaurant recommendations making the stay incredibly pleasant.

The Rooms & Suite

The Royal Floor, which opened in 2014, consists of five luxurious suites and six generous rooms. The ultimate highlight is the 3-bedroom Royal Suite which is a whopping 400 square meters and not too surprisingly one of the largest suites in Germany which can be booked for a whopping 14,000 Euros per night. The hotel has a total of 21 exquisite hotel suites in addition to 85 generous and luxurious guest rooms.

All 106 guest rooms and suites are equipped with flat-screen TVs, wi-fi, iPod port and a modern central electronics control accessible from the bed which includes remote controlled lights, curtains and air-conditioning. There is also a well-stocked mini-bar offering complimentary drinks.

The marble bathrooms are beautiful and spacious with a separate rain mist shower and bathtub. The amenities are from L’occitane and the bathrobes and towels ooze pure luxury.

The king-size bed is incredibly comfortable with high-quality bed linen and perfect pillows which is resulting in a fantastic night’s sleep.

Stunning view over the city from the breakfast restaurant

The Breakfast at Brasserie 1806

After waking up refreshed and rested I’m heading down to Brasserie 1806 located on the first floor. Seating over 64 guests the traditional restaurant offers a stunning view of Dusseldorf’s historic downtown through the large windows. The interior design is elegant with ceiling panels, velvet covered chairs, white linen tablecloths and old photographs on the walls showcasing the history of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is nothing short of German delicacies such as different types of traditional bread, cold cuts and cheeses. There are healthy juices, fruit salad and yoghurts as well as croissants and patisseries. On the a la carte menu guests can select from omelettes, eggs Benedict and pancakes. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming yet classy and elegant.

The Spa

The Spa

The new Spa located on the ground floor offers a large swimming pool, sauna, steam room and various treatment rooms. The treatment concept is based on internationally recognised face and full-body treatments. Available 24-hours, hotel guests can select from Nordic Scalp Treatment, Classic Massage and Aromatherapy to name a few. The heated pool is great for a few laps before enjoying the steam room before a shower followed by the sauna. There are plenty of towels to use and mineral water and fruit to keep you hydrated.

Summary

If the walls could talk, is what I keep thinking as I walk around in this majestic property. This is the perfect hotel for a luxurious and memorable stay in Dusseldorf for families, multi-families and couples. The service is fantastic, the rooms beautiful and the breakfast offers a great selection with something for everyone. Given the central location, everything is walking distance from the hotel which makes this the perfect base for an amazing cityscape!
