Drake & Morgan’s new venture, The Sipping Room is located along the restaurant fronts across the bridge from Canary Wharf towards West India Quay. The restaurant which is spread across two floors in a charming Grade II listed wharf warehouse serves up a modern European cuisine together with an impressive wine list.

An 8-minute walk from Canary Wharf tube station (if Google doesn’t take you on a detour which, according to the staff, apparently happens from time to time) you’ll find The Sipping Room.

With a wood- beamed ceiling, cosy booths, fur-draped chairs and wooden walls this place feels like an after-ski deluxe experience in the alps minus the snow. The restaurant is busy for a Wednesday evening and the atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back with friendly and welcoming staff.

The food is fuss-free and tasty with the prawn lollipops and salt and pepper squid being great options for starters. The squid is cooked well and comes with aioli and lemon and the prawn lollipops look cute as they arrive on separate sticks.

For main we try the popular Wagyu and the Halloumi burger from the burger menu. Both are great and are served with a trio of fries including Cowboy (honey, chilli & garlic), Louisiana (cajun spice) and Roman (parmesan, truffle & rosemary) with the latter being the favourite.

The food is very filling, however, we are convinced to try their most famous pudding – the chocolate brownie which is served with vanilla ice-cream. Perfectly fudgy and chocolatey I’m happy we caved in.

As the grand finale, we try the Espresso Martini which is strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with three coffee beans placed next to each other on top. Heaven!

The Sipping Room also does brunch which I can imagine is really good!
