With its unique all-day dining experience, Thomas’s Cafe is a fabulous place for a tasty stopover after a hectic shopping spree on Regent street. With an impressive menu, and a beautiful decor this place is both classy and expensive – a bit like Burberry, right?

Named after founder Thomas Burberry this chic café, which is essentially a restaurant, is tucked away on the first floor inside Burberry’s 121 Regent Street flagship store in London.

The atmosphere at the upstairs dining area is nice and elegant without being pretentious. The tables are draped with white crisp tablecloths right next to the large windows offering a nice view and creates an airy feel of space and light.

Celebrating British classics based on seasonal produce from small farmers and artisan suppliers across Britain, fashionistas and shoppers can enjoy tasty dishes from the light and trendy kitchen. In true British fashion (literally speaking) the tasty all-day menu includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

My guest and I start off with sole goujons served in a nice silver bucket together with tartar sauce. The fish is incredibly crisp and cooked to perfection. We also have the cheese croquettes which are served with shallot puree adding a sweet kick to the saltiness which works well together with the fresh garden vegetable salad.

For the main course, we enjoy the warm salad of River Wylye trout, spelt and pickled cucumber which is refreshingly tasty as well as filling.

After being seduced by the elaborate cake menu it seems impossible to resist a dessert. We decided to try the Kent cherry and pistachio cake and the flourless chocolate cake with caramel and almond brittle. Both cakes were exceptional and a perfect way to end a fantastic lunch.

The service is very good and the staff is warm, knowledgeable and attentive. This coupled with the great selection of quality teas and the impressive separate cake menu makes Thomas’ Cafe a real winner.

I can truly recommend this fashionable cafe for an afternoon break in style.
